Avoiding double bookings: how Quartio protects your calendar
A double booking is annoying for guests and expensive for properties. It almost always happens for the same reason: two portals sell the same room before the second one learns about the first.
How Quartio approaches it
- Every unit is assigned only once. This applies to bookings at the property, through your website and through the portals. The calendar is the single source of truth.
- Changes go out immediately. As soon as a unit is taken, Quartio sends availability, rates and minimum stay to the portals. Only changes are sent, in batches.
- Errors are not lost. If a transfer fails, the job is kept and retried. If a portal receives too many requests, the attempt is repeated after a pause.
- Bookings that cannot be matched stay visible. If a portal booking cannot be assigned to a free unit, it stays open at the channel manager and appears in the connection log. It does not disappear silently.
Five tips for everyday work
- Maintain availability and rates only in Quartio, not additionally in the portal.
- Assign the right number of units to each room type.
- Check the connection log from time to time, especially after changes in the portal.
- Enter blocks for maintenance or personal use in Quartio, not in the portal.
- If a portal rejects a booking, get in touch. The log shows what happened.
The channel manager is in testing. We enable live portal connections with selected properties. Interested? Request a demo.
